Extraction of wisdom teeth is one of the most common surgical procedures that takes place in the UK. Most people have four wisdom teeth which tend to grow in late teenage years or early twenties. These teeth grow in each corner of the mouth, by the time they come through the other 28 adult teeth are normally already in place and in some cases, there isn’t sufficient space for the wisdom teeth to grow through properly. This sometimes causes them to grow at an angle or only partially erupt. This is also known as an impacted wisdom tooth.
