Dr Paolo Baraggia
Dr Paolo Baraggia qualified in Medicine from the University of Milan in 1999.
He then went into research as a fellow at the Institute of Pathophysiology first and then the Institute of Human Physiology for a total of three years studying the molecular process of ageing in the former and the mechanics of respiration in the latter.
He finally qualified in anaesthesia and intensive care after extensive training including two years at the Children’s Hospital of Milan and at the prestigious cardiothoracic centre of Niguarda Hospital, where he developed his interest in Cardiothoracic anaesthesia.
Paolo has worked as a consultant in three different countries, in Italy, the Netherlands and in the UK where he was appointed in 2010 as the leading anaesthetist, at the time newly created regional Head and Neck Centre. In line with the spirit of when he first left Italy, he still enjoys taking part to international congresses, has a constantly open mind attitude, to offer in his practice nothing less than “the state of the art”.
Today he shares his anaesthetic sessions between plastics and vascular surgery.
Paolo loves music, mostly classical and history books. He is very picky about food and that believes it to be another form of art. Sadly, having settled in Chelmsford he misses the Alps and a proper 10,000 feet peak climb, a family tradition for him.
