Treatments offered by Yvette:
Dental Hygienist Yvette Murphy
Yvette’s career in dentistry started as a Trainee Dental Nurse working for a family run mixed dental practice in Brentwood, Essex. After qualifying as a Dental Nurse and working 6 years for the practice, she felt it was time to progress her career and return to education, with the intention of qualifying as a Dental Hygienist.
Yvette studied for her degree at The University of Essex in Southend; an established Institution that provides a well-respected course in Dental Hygiene. After 2 years of dedication she gained her degree in Oral Health Science, qualifying in September 2011.
Education & Prevention are Key
Over the past 8 years, Yvette has gained valuable experience from working in NHS, Private and a Specialist Periodontics practice as a Dental Hygienist. She enjoys delivering the most up-to-date evidence-based information / modern techniques and technologies / modalities. She pays close attention to detail and provides thorough patient tailored Oral Hygiene advice. Through working together with the patient, Yvette helps them to realise their important role in the success of their own oral health, which is vital to achieving the best outcome. As part of her working ethos, providing pain free treatment is critical in building trust with her patients. Similarly, treating nervous patients is one of Yvette’s strengths; helping them to feel in control of their appointment and working within the patient's limitations is important, adopting an empathetic and caring approach to build a trustworthy rapport with the patients.
Yvette takes a holistic approach when treating gum disease (periodontal disease). Addressing the patient as a whole; recognising the importance of healthy gums and a confident smile to our general well-being. Oral hygiene (plaque control), family genetics, smoking, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, pregnancy, stress, nutrition, are all risk factors of gum disease and research into other systemic diseases linked to gum disease is ongoing.
To provide the best possible care for our patients at FACEmed, Yvette works closely with her colleagues. Working as a team contributes to the success of our patient’s dental experience and puts us as the forefront of healthcare.
Walk-in hygiene also known as Direct Access
Thanks to changes in Dental Legislation, Yvette is able to treat patients at FACEmed who haven’t been seen by the dentist for a check-up first. As a hygienist, we no longer need a referral from the dentist and you don’t need to be previously registered with us here at FACEmed. We therefore welcome you to book a hygienist appointment for an assessment of the health of your gums, to receive oral health advice personally tailored to you and a thorough debridement and polish.
