Brow Ptosis & Droopy Eyelids – Non-surgical & Surgical Treatment Options

Brow Ptosis & Droopy Eyelids – Non-surgical & Surgical Treatment Options

When people talk about ageing many think about crows feet or wrinkles, but for some facial sagging and skin laxity is a much bigger problem. Whether it’s your brows that are starting to droop or your eyelids that sag, it can add years to your appearance and leave you feeling self-conscious, unhappy or even depressed.

Brow sagging (brow ptosis) is a common sign of ageing which usually occurs when the muscles of the forehead start to weaken. This leads to a relaxation of the brow and a sagging of the eyebrows. In some cases, the brows droop unevenly, which can not only make you look older, but affect your facial expression too.

Eyelid ptosis (or droopy eyelids) can occur on one or both sides, along with brow ptosis or alone. For most some it’s solely an aesthetic problem but in most cases this can affect the functionality of your lids and impair your visual field.

But don’t despair. There are treatments available that can help reduce or even reverse brow and eyelid ptosis.

Surgery is a popular choice for a more permanent result due to how effective it is; however, some people prefer to opt for non-surgical procedures such as Botox®. The non-surgical option is considered initially to assess the efficacity and the result of the treatment over a period of time. Some patients continue with the non-surgical choice at regular interval for years whilst others might opt for surgery.

If your symptoms are mild then non-surgical treatments may be all you need to put a stop to your sagging brow or give your lids the lift they require. However, if your ptosis is severe or you’re looking for a more drastic result then surgery is the only choice for you.

A good clinic will provide you with a consultation where you can discuss your needs and advise you on the best procedure according to your requirements and expectations. At that point you will get all your questions answered before you commit to a treatment.
