Skin lesions, often referred to as “lumps and bumps,” can vary widely in appearance and size. Whether these lesions cause discomfort, disfigurement, or are simply aesthetically displeasing, FACEMED’s team is here to help. Our Nurse Practitioner and Consultant Plastic Surgeons are experienced in removing these lesions, providing peace of mind and improved appearance.
Skin tags, also known as Acrochordons or Cutaneous Papillomas, are small, benign (non-cancerous) growths that appear as flesh-colored flaps of skin attached by a small stalk. Commonly found under the arms, in the groin area, on the face, neck, chest, or eyelids, they are usually harmless but can cause irritation, especially if they rub against clothing or other body parts.
To start, patients are encouraged to send a picture of the lesion(s) to our surgical team. This helps determine if the removal can be handled by our Clinical Nurse or if a consultation with one of our Consultant Plastic Surgeons is needed. Complex or suspicious lesions will be referred to the surgical department, while non-suspicious skin tags and similar lesions may be treated by the Nurse Practitioner.
The removal of skin lesions is a straightforward in-clinic procedure performed under local anaesthesia. You will be awake during the procedure, but the area will be completely numb. The lesion is removed using a scalpel, surgical scissors, or cauterisation. The procedure is typically quick and free from complications.
In most cases, you will have a minimal scar that fades over time. Some lesions may be sent to a laboratory for histological diagnosis to determine if there are any concerns, such as skin cancer. The need for histological analysis will be discussed between you and your surgeon.
Follow-Up Appointment: Usually scheduled for one to two weeks after the procedure, with a nurse or surgeon. Some cases may require suture removal, but most sutures are dissolvable.
Wound Care: A dressing will be applied for the first few days. Steri-strips may be used depending on the lesion’s location and size.
Post-Procedure Guidelines: Avoid swimming for at least two weeks and protect the area from sun exposure.
While complications are uncommon in minor skin surgery, potential risks include:

Monica is extremely skilled at what she does, every procedure I have had has made me look natural, refreshed and more youthful. She is very professional and gives me confidence in her abilities. The clinic is absolutely spotless and run efficiently. I have been seeing her for several years and would highly recommend her services.
To say I’m pleased with the service is an understatement, outstanding patient care and a first class service. Doctor George and Team are by far the best dental team I’ve experienced. The FACEMED facility is of the highest standard and I highly recommend that anyone looking for any dental treatment to look no further than here.
Monica is truly amazing. The results are phenomenal and very natural. Monica spends time assessing your particular facial structure and physiology and treats accordingly, always being careful to produce the best results – she provides a bespoke service and her years of experience are priceless – I travel an hour to go to her! Would highly recommend and will never go anywhere else!
I hadn’t been to the dentist for year as i’ve always been too scared!! I plucked up the courage after Dr Ketan Sheth treated my 9 and 11 year old children and they were fine. Can honestly say now I don’t know why I didn’t go sooner. Dr Ketan Sheth is a fantastic dentist and all the staff and the surgery as a whole there is 5 star! Thank you for all your help and see you in 6 months.
I have been using FACEMED for a number of years now for natural, painless Botox injections. A few years ago I decided to also have Blepharoplasty Eyelid Surgery. The clinic has its own operating theatre for the Consultant Plastic Surgeon to perform surgery, the results were perfect. FACEMED is immaculately clean, the staff are professional and helpful and Monica is an absolute expert in her field.
I love my experience when visiting FACEMED. Such a relaxing, professional atmosphere. Furthermore, I look forward to seeing the results of my treatments, of which I am never in doubt. I totally recommend FACEMED for truly excellent results.
All treatments are paid in full at point of delivery.
