A great smile doesn’t just end with straight white teeth; all of the surrounding elements help to create a beautiful smile.
A gummy smile is present when you smile and your upper lip elevates too far above the upper teeth, exposing gums and producing an unattractive smile. An ideal smile will only have up to 2 millimeters of gum showing with the upper lip sitting just above the top teeth.
The most common cause of the gummy smile is hyperactivity of the muscles which elevates the upper lip.
In the past, gummy smiles were treated with invasive surgeries of the gum tissue and jawbone. Thankfully, developments in aesthetic medicine allow us to treat the appearance of gummy smiles with a simple, non-invasive 10-minute treatment that is effective.
A small amount of Botulinum Toxin Type A is injected on both sides at the junction of the nostril with the nose-to-mouth fold (levator labii muscle). This is a very safe, virtually painless procedure that can be undertaken in approximately 10 minutes and patients can return immediately to their normal activity. Within the next 2 weeks, the treatment will gradually take effect, reducing the elevation of the upper lip and thus creating a more balanced smile.
You may get a slight bruise at the injection site.
Please note that some patients who don’t require the treatment or are not good candidates will be advised during the consultation process and treatment may be declined to avoid disappointment.
Your health and well-being is not something you should put at risk for the sake of a few pounds. There are many stories of bogus muscle relaxant injectors offering this treatment at impossibly low prices. The old adage, “…sounds too good to be true…” is normally true when it comes to medical aesthetic injectable treatments. Remember, although it is a cosmetic treatment, it is a prescription-only medicine and can only be performed by medical doctors and nurses with special prescribing qualifications. If you are unsure about who is performing the treatment and their qualifications, we recommended checking the SAVE FACE website, which contains the only government-recognised list of accredited practitioners.

The procedure typically takes about 10 minutes.
The results generally last 3-4 months. Regular treatments can help maintain the desired effects.
Minor side effects may include slight bruising at the injection site. Most side effects are temporary and resolve quickly.
You may start to see the effects within a few days, with full results usually visible within 1-2 weeks.
Monica is extremely skilled at what she does, every procedure I have had has made me look natural, refreshed and more youthful. She is very professional and gives me confidence in her abilities. The clinic is absolutely spotless and run efficiently. I have been seeing her for several years and would highly recommend her services.
To say I’m pleased with the service is an understatement, outstanding patient care and a first class service. Doctor George and Team are by far the best dental team I’ve experienced. The FACEMED facility is of the highest standard and I highly recommend that anyone looking for any dental treatment to look no further than here.
Monica is truly amazing. The results are phenomenal and very natural. Monica spends time assessing your particular facial structure and physiology and treats accordingly, always being careful to produce the best results – she provides a bespoke service and her years of experience are priceless – I travel an hour to go to her! Would highly recommend and will never go anywhere else!
I hadn’t been to the dentist for year as i’ve always been too scared!! I plucked up the courage after Dr Ketan Sheth treated my 9 and 11 year old children and they were fine. Can honestly say now I don’t know why I didn’t go sooner. Dr Ketan Sheth is a fantastic dentist and all the staff and the surgery as a whole there is 5 star! Thank you for all your help and see you in 6 months.
I have been using FACEMED for a number of years now for natural, painless Botox injections. A few years ago I decided to also have Blepharoplasty Eyelid Surgery. The clinic has its own operating theatre for the Consultant Plastic Surgeon to perform surgery, the results were perfect. FACEMED is immaculately clean, the staff are professional and helpful and Monica is an absolute expert in her field.
I love my experience when visiting FACEMED. Such a relaxing, professional atmosphere. Furthermore, I look forward to seeing the results of my treatments, of which I am never in doubt. I totally recommend FACEMED for truly excellent results.
All treatments are paid in full at point of delivery.
