Gum disease, also known as periodontal disease, is a common condition that affects the gums and the surrounding tissues of the teeth. If left untreated, it can lead to serious dental issues, including tooth loss.
At FACEMED, we offer professional hygiene therapy to effectively manage and treat gum disease, ensuring your oral health is restored and maintained. Contact us today to schedule an appointment and take the first step towards a healthier smile.
Gum disease is primarily caused by the accumulation of plaque, a sticky film of bacteria that forms on the teeth. When plaque is not adequately removed through regular brushing and flossing, it can harden into tartar, leading to inflammation of the gums.
Other factors contributing to gum disease include:
Our comprehensive hygiene therapy is designed to combat gum disease and promote oral health.
Our treatment includes:
Our skilled dental hygienists perform a thorough cleaning, removing plaque and tartar from above and below the gum line.
This deep-cleaning procedure targets the root surfaces, eliminating bacteria and smoothing the roots to prevent future plaque buildup.
In some cases, antibiotics may be prescribed to control bacterial infection.
We provide personalised advice on brushing, flossing, and maintaining oral health to prevent the recurrence of gum disease.
Our hygiene therapy is tailored to meet your specific needs, ensuring optimal results and a healthier smile.

Early signs of gum disease include red, swollen, or bleeding gums, persistent bad breath, and receding gums. If you notice any of these symptoms, it’s important to seek professional care promptly.
In its early stages (gingivitis), gum disease can be reversed with proper dental care and improved oral hygiene. However, more advanced stages (periodontitis) require professional treatment to manage the condition.
The frequency of hygiene therapy depends on the severity of your gum disease and your overall oral health. Typically, regular visits every 3 to 6 months are recommended.
Hygiene therapy is generally not painful, but some patients may experience slight discomfort during deep cleaning procedures. Our team ensures your comfort by using local anesthesia if needed.
Maintaining good oral hygiene, including brushing twice a day, flossing daily, and visiting your dentist regularly, is key to preventing gum disease. Avoiding tobacco products and eating a balanced diet also contribute to healthy gums.
Monica is extremely skilled at what she does, every procedure I have had has made me look natural, refreshed and more youthful. She is very professional and gives me confidence in her abilities. The clinic is absolutely spotless and run efficiently. I have been seeing her for several years and would highly recommend her services.
To say I’m pleased with the service is an understatement, outstanding patient care and a first class service. Doctor George and Team are by far the best dental team I’ve experienced. The FACEMED facility is of the highest standard and I highly recommend that anyone looking for any dental treatment to look no further than here.
Monica is truly amazing. The results are phenomenal and very natural. Monica spends time assessing your particular facial structure and physiology and treats accordingly, always being careful to produce the best results – she provides a bespoke service and her years of experience are priceless – I travel an hour to go to her! Would highly recommend and will never go anywhere else!
I hadn’t been to the dentist for year as i’ve always been too scared!! I plucked up the courage after Dr Ketan Sheth treated my 9 and 11 year old children and they were fine. Can honestly say now I don’t know why I didn’t go sooner. Dr Ketan Sheth is a fantastic dentist and all the staff and the surgery as a whole there is 5 star! Thank you for all your help and see you in 6 months.
I have been using FACEMED for a number of years now for natural, painless Botox injections. A few years ago I decided to also have Blepharoplasty Eyelid Surgery. The clinic has its own operating theatre for the Consultant Plastic Surgeon to perform surgery, the results were perfect. FACEMED is immaculately clean, the staff are professional and helpful and Monica is an absolute expert in her field.
I love my experience when visiting FACEMED. Such a relaxing, professional atmosphere. Furthermore, I look forward to seeing the results of my treatments, of which I am never in doubt. I totally recommend FACEMED for truly excellent results.
