Introduction to Dermal Filler Treatments

Treating the signs of ageing Safely

As we age collagen acts as the major support protein for our skin, elastin allows our skin to stay firm whilst resisting wrinkles and hyaluronic acid helps to trap water and add volume and shape to our skin. Dermal filler injectable treatments are used to replace the loss of these elements within targeted areas in the skin. At FACEmed Medical Centre, we specialise in dermal filler treatments to smooth out wrinkles such as nasolabial folds and marionette lines, to enhance and rehydrate lips and to contour areas of the face such as the cheeks and jaw area to increase definition. Dermal fillers are sometimes recommended in conjunction with Muscle Relaxant injections to achieve the most effective outcome.

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are gel-like substances comprising of bio-compatible elements such as hyaluronic acid, calcium hydroxylapatite (a collagen stimulator) and Poly-L-Lactic Acid. This gel-like substance is carefully injected just below the skin surface and is being used more and more to soften lines and wrinkles, to hydrate the skin and to reshape and recreate harmony in the features that have been lost during the ageing process. Dermal fillers can also be used to minimise the appearance of skin damage following accidents/trauma. It is also used to treat facial asymmetry and create balance within the facial features.

At FACEmed Medical Centre, safety and the natural aesthetic restoration of your facial features is our number 1 priority. We only use dermal fillers that:

  • Are CE Marked and FDA approved.
  • Have a superior safety profile with proven track record and published evidence-based research
  • The body can break down: hyaluronic acid usually dissolves after 6-12 months. The long-lasting result depends on each individual.
